Job Title: Teacher

 

Job Overview:

The teacher is to help students learn appropriate subject matter and acquire skills that will contribute to their development as mature, productive, and responsible men and women.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Possess the necessary certification for the position as required by the Missouri State Board of Education
  • Meet any other requirement as may be deemed necessary by the Local Board of Education

 

Other Working Conditions:

  • Salary based on experience, education, and/or as agreed by the Board of Education
  • Vacations, leave policies, and fringe benefits as stated in Board policies
  • Employed for a contract period of academic school year/10 months 
  • Reviewed annually with recommendation for re-employment by April 15
  • Reports to Building Level Principals 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan a program of study that adheres to state and district guidelines, promotes district goals, and meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects to communicate these objectives to students
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
  • Follow accommodations and modifications for individual students as set forth in students’ 504 Plans and Individualized Education Plans
  • Maintain professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district and self selected growth activities
  • Demonstrates dependability, punctuality, initiative, and enthusiasm toward work
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the the school district and abides by Missouri statutes
  • Assumes out of class responsibilities
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility
  • Supervises volunteers, paraprofessionals or student teachers/cadets as assigned
  • Prepares necessary materials for substitutes
  • Conduct self at all times as a representative of the school in a positive and professional manner
  • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the building administrator
